Stern portfolio - volker hinz

For almost four decades Volker Hinz''''s photographs defined the look of stern magazine. His subtle yet revealing portraits of German politicians from Willy Brandt onwards are a vivid historical and artistic record of the Federal Republic. As masterful as any of the major figures he profiled, Hinz excelled at capturing exactly the right moment. His reportage from the U.S. and across the globe gave us memorable images of greats such as Muhammad Ali, Woody Allen, Pel and Franz Beckenbauer. Hinz''''s works are classics that linger indelibly in our collective consciousness. Unlike most celebrity photography, his images have both the crisp candor of a snapshot and the reflective depth of fine art.
